Ivy's Shakespeare Workshop was the best thing that happened to me as an actor this year. It totally revitalized me and brought me back to the joy of acting. From the warm up stages to the dissecting and getting to the heart of Shakepeare's play I was totally involved and fascinated. I was reconnected to life through the eyes of the characters in ‘A mid Summer Night’s Dream’. Ivy's technique brought my entire being into the play on so many levels that I went out and got a few more of his plays. I understood exactly what was going on and I was able to work with the joy of knowing that I can do Shakespeare's plays and so I look forward to work with her again.

Hands down this is the best Shakespeare class I have ever taken. I was lucky to be a part of Ivy's Shakespeare workshop at the Susan Batson Studio...its funny but in every class I felt like I was in some way transported to Old England!

Ivy is a master at bringing Shakespeare’s work and underlying textures of the material to a complete clarity, which is something that people often struggle with today, because of Shakespearian English. I was a student who was already familiar with Shakespeare, but this time I was truly able to make the words my own.

Also any actor that may be struggling with their voice and projection, Ivy teaches you how to get your self out and across to an audience right from your core. There are voice training exercises that are a part of the class that was such a surprise to me.....and these are not only essential to Shakespeare,
but to be a great actor in Theater or Film. It really helped me to open up my voice.

I really encourage any actor in New York to take the time to do this class. This class was recommended to me by one of the best acting coaches in the country, Ms. Susan Batson, and I know why she did. Ivy was everything that I heard she was, and she takes the time to train you. This class has the added benefit of getting a taste of the English actor training.

Ivy herself has performed Shakespeare on stage and its awesome to see her transform into all the different characters at times while she is teaching....!
I respect her as an actress and a teacher and am so grateful I got a chance to take her class.

Expecting to take a voice class I walked into a world of inspiration. I was invited to take on Shakespeare in a way that has left me with the skills to propel me further into his genius beyond the class setting. The vocal work was simple yet profound. I am still doing it daily and experiencing the rewards of discipline.
